The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST-CIE) hosted Syrian tech entrepreneur Moe Ghashim for an interactive webinar titled “Start First: The Magic Formula for Entrepreneurs,” as part of the AI Launch Lab incubation program for projects and ideas, with participating program teams.

Ghashim shared practical insights and lessons from his journey of founding, building, and developing digital ventures, drawing on his experience in e-commerce and supporting entrepreneurs, including ShopGo and MyJam. The discussion explored starting new ventures and the challenges of developing them, helping participating teams learn from entrepreneurial experience.

“Start Where You Left Off: Lessons in Building Yourself and Your Venture” with Sakhr Sawwan

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST-CIE) hosted entrepreneur and technology expert Sakhr Sawwan for an online discussion titled “Start Where You Left Off: Lessons in Building Yourself and Your Venture,” as part of the AI Launch Lab incubation program for projects and ideas, with participating program teams.

The session explored lessons from more than twenty years of experience in systems engineering, technical leadership, and building technology products and companies. Topics included founding companies and bringing products to market, managing teams and projects, navigating decisions and challenges throughout the entrepreneurial journey, and translating professional experience into practical steps that support personal and venture development.

Applying Artificial Intelligence in Administrative Work

Dr. Fadi Amroush, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST-CIE), delivered a three-day online training program titled “Applying Artificial Intelligence at Work,” with participation from members of the Institute’s administrative staff.

The program included a practical introduction to generative AI and the use of ChatGPT and Gemini, with exercises in writing prompts, analyzing files, and working with text, images, and documents. Participants also identified real challenges in their workplace and analyzed the associated workflows to explore opportunities for using these tools to support administrative tasks and improve how they are carried out.

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST-CIE), in cooperation with Digit Incubator, organized an applied lecture titled “Building Prototypes with Artificial Intelligence” as part of the AI Launch Lab incubation program, held at Digit Center in Damascus.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Fadi Amroush, Director of HIAST-CIE, and covered practical topics including prompt engineering, skills development, and the use of generative AI tools for prototype development, helping participating teams turn their ideas into testable and scalable solutions more efficiently.

AI Launch Lab Mentoring Sessions Begin

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST-CIE) launched the first mentoring and guidance sessions for project teams accepted into the AI Launch Lab incubation program at HIAST in Damascus, following the completion of the evaluation process and selection of the qualifying teams.

The opening session marked the beginning of the program’s first phase, with the Center’s team working directly with entrepreneurs to assess technical needs, review business plans, and provide specialized guidance for prototype development and the transition of innovative solutions toward practical, scalable applications.
